Magnum Photographer, Abbas, talks about his work on Iran spanning 1973 to the present, including his years covering the Iranian revolution. An Iranian transplanted
to Paris, Abbas has dedicated himself to documenting the political and social life of societies in conflict.

Still/Moving : Photography & Cinema – The theme for the year’s festival will be the focus of a round table discussion. The discussion will highlight the convergences and divergences between the two art forms. It explores how the digital revolution has impacted both film and photography and questions the notions of cinematic and photographic in the contemporary context.

 

Staging Photos

A specially created photography workshop for photo enthusiasts with an interest for staged photography. Based on the festival theme of Photography & Cinema, this session takes participants through the basics of how to photograph a staged setting as well as the basics of studio lighting. Selected photographs by participants will then be produced to be exhibited on a MINI Cooper S displayed at the museum.

Alain Fleischer enters Rodin’s kingdom to lay bare his passion for the human body, revealing the source of Rodin’s creative energy. The genius of sculptor’s technique comes to life and becomes crystal clear. "King Rodin" was selected for the Locarno Films Festival and the Montreal International Art Film Festival for its opening in 2003.

Alain Fleischer offers a dreamlike vision of the most famous places and artworks from the Louvre Museum. The flight of a falcon, dreams of a child and the words of the poet Yves Bonnefoy serve as a guide to the visit of an imaginary Louvre. The film was directed for the bicentenary of the museum.
