Month Of Photography Asia 2008
13 June to 20 July

For 2008, MOPAsia is curated around the theme Still/Moving: Photography & Cinema. The theme is based on the relationship between photography and cinema, between the photographic and the cinematic. What are convergences and divergences between photography and cinema? How has an art form with a shared heritage informed each other over the course of their separate evolutions? The theme will be addressed through a wide variety of exhibitions, events and public programs. This theme will be addressed in all its diversity, in an attempt to explore the relationship between the two art forms, from literal approaches to more conceptual ones, from classic documentary photography to experimental photo installations and projections. It will thus keep a balance between classic and experimental photography, so as to display various aspects of the medium, in its relationship to the art of cinema and the concept of cinematic.
